There was a time when audiences hailed Bollywood movies for the quality of storyline and scripts. The rare breed of actors and actresses with flawless skills also served to carry this industry to the world in a glorious manner.
The scenario, however, has changed much in recent years because of the competition between producers and directors to make their movies as much eye-catching to the audience as possible. The so called “masala movies” often contain little more than cheesy one-liner based dialogues, skimpy clothing and poor scripts, salvaged only by glamour from high-profile movie stars. The industry is slowly shifting towards providing cheap, quick entertainment instead of quality shows for the viewers.
This is an alarming situation for serious movie viewers who wish to see their dream-stars act to their fullest potential and leave a mark on the minds of the audience even after the credits roll in. If the quality does not improve soon, will the world appreciate Bollywood movies for long?
