Depression leading to Obesity - take early measures

Depression and obesity are intrinsically connected, one tro the other. Overweight people tend to be more depressed in comparison to those who are not and conversely, mental depression in most cases result in significant weight gain. Please remember that here we are talking about 'depression' as a clinical condition and not just as a passing instance of sadness or a habitual mood swing. It is a very extensive topic and in this article we are trying to find out why depression causes obesity in the first place and some ways of checking it.

Although there are a number of theories, many experts believe that both appetite and metabolism may be affected by the use of antidepressants. The medicines involved may have a tendency to encourage a carbohydrate craving that is hard to control. However most doctors warn not to severely restrict caloric intake while taking antidepressants. This may affect brain chemistry in an adverse way and create a strong sense of deprivation that will only aggravate existing feelings of depression.
